Nancy Thompson is a Professor and Dental Assisting Program Coordinator at Rose State College in Midwest City, Oklahoma. A graduate of Wichita State University (Class of 1987), Nancy worked as a clinical dental hygienist for 34 years before transitioning into education, where she has spent the past five years inspiring and training future dental professionals.
Nancy joined the Oklahoma Dental Hygienists’ Association to connect with fellow hygienists and continue her lifelong advocacy for the profession. She believes that increasing membership begins with emphasizing the importance of advocacy and celebrating the fellowship that comes from spending time with like-minded professionals who share the same passion for oral health.
Outside of her professional life, Nancy enjoys time with her two grown children, one grandson, and her large extended family in the Oklahoma City area. A talented artist, she finds joy and balance through painting—working in oils, acrylics, and watercolor as creative outlets. Her favorite quote, which reflects her authenticity and spirit, is by Oscar Wilde: “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”
